Digital Composites & Key Art
The seed is planted
Being a child of the 80's and growing up with some iconic action, scifi and fantasy films I've always had a keen interest in the cinematic world. Since working for myself this passion has started to wiggle its way into my composite work, looking for new ways to capture and bottle that cinematic magic of the movies into composite imagery.
How long does it take to create.....how long is a piece of string
Digital composites can take alot of blood, sweat, tears and time, as well as arguably being one of the more challenging uses of Photoshop. A digital composite can take anywhere from several hours to days of work.
Composites have a variety of uses some of which include key art for movies and key visuals for advertising campaigns, which would then be used throughout different formats and media.
Coming up with the idea
So, where do you start, you may well ask! As well as sketching out an initial idea I also like to use Pintrest to create a mood board narrowing down a style/look that the client likes. By spending a couple of hours doing this mind mapping upfront can save alot of time later down the line.
